Home for the Aged For Your Old Parents? Are You in Favor?
Here in our corner of the world, when our parents age, we don't usually bring them to the home for the aged. It feels like a slap to our faces if we don't take care of them personally.
In some countries, however; aged parents should be brought to the homes. In fact, they are well taken cared of in this homes, and the family spent a sum of money especially if they have selected a good one.
Here in the Philippines, it is already a part of our culture to take care of our old ones at home and give them all care that we can give in return of what they have done to us and the love that they gave to us. Many of industrialized country used to bring their old ones at the home for the aged because they don't have any time to take care of them, they are busy at work and business. In our country our old ones or the senior citizens are lucky enough unlike those who live in industrialized country where they just pay to institutions who will take care of their aged people.
COMMUNITY PROFILE
Colegio de Sta. Isabel with its commitment to the holistic growth and development of the poor sectors in 1967 ventured into a complimentary Community Development Program, by establishing Villa Marillac Community Center in honor of St. Louise de Marillac, co-Founders of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul.
Villa Marillac was founded in 1967 to respond to the conditions and needs of the time. CSI ventured into a new horizon that of the Social Work approach in Community Development. This is not an independent service but an extension of the old century academic function of the school. Thus with the donation from an old lady, Escolastica Robles, of three parcels of lots measuring 6,764 sq. meters (now the existing compound of Villa Marillac), 5,885 sq. meters (used for housing of CSI employees) and more or less 3 hectares of rice fields in Concepcion Pequeña (intended for the support of the elderlies) to the Daughters of Charity, Villa Marillac came into existence at Barangay Calauag, Naga City. The center was initially maintained with proceeds from the donated rice fields of Don Eduardo Robles and Doña Agripina Robles, a childless couple, who were very much impressed by the charitable works of the CSI Sisters with the poor. The proceeds of the 235 hectares of rice lands in Hacienda Pamplona are supposedly for the use of the maintenance of the center. But during the Martial Law years the land was Land Reformed leaving a few unproductive parcels that the sisters running the center found it very difficult to make both ends meet.
From its foundation until 1976, Villa Marillac Community Center was administered by Sr. Virginia M. Hachero, DC a Registered Social Worker whose charism in drawing volunteers as well as donors is unquestinable. her dynamism drew the generous support of the following:
Rev. Fr. Angel Plaza, director of the Ladies of Charity and the Luisas
CSI Superiors:
Sr. Imelda Espiritu, DC
Sr. Paz San Buenaventura, DC
Sr. Maria Oandasan, DC
Sr. Concepcion Mabunay, DC
The late Archbishop Teopisto Alberto, D.D.
Rev. Fr. Benjamin Ortazon, CM
Rev. Fr. Alex Alvarez, CM
Judge Mericia Palma with the Ladies of Charity
These People made all the projects of the center possible with their moral and financial support.

BACKGROUND of the STUDY
Do you know what "HOMES for the AGED" are?
Home for the aged are institutions or foundations that took care of the aged persons who are left and sad to say "abandoned" by their family and love ones. This institutions are responsible for taking good care of the seniors citizens with facilities which provide supervision and assistance in activities of daily living with medical and nursing services.
This blog site will help each and every child to realize how important their parents are. They will realize how much a parent love his/her children that may lead in the point that even their own life would be sacrificed just for the sake of their children. Each and everyone of us should never sent our parents to the home for the aged because it would be unfair to them for all the sacrifices they have done just for us and for all the love and care they've shown and gave us.
This picture was taken at the Villa Marillac Community Center together with the senior citizens and the community staff. We conducted an interview on how the senior citizens get there, what are their daily activities and routines and other more. Our hearts was filled with sadness when saw some of them lying on one side all alone as they were thinking of something else. This is our first time to visit a nursing home.We enjoy chatting with them even if there are things that we cannot understand.
And i hope that we can visit there next time to have some fun with them and know more about them.Hope to see you again lola's.♥
